Rousseau table for Makita table saw

cic317 | Posted in General Discussion on June 3, 2005 04:50am

My loyal Makita 8 1/4″ table saw died today, went to buy a new one & found out it’s discontinued. They only have the 10″available. I didn’t buy it because the sales guy didn’t know if it would fit my existing Rousseau table. Tried there web site but no real info is available. Does anyone know if they are interchangable?

Your saw "died"? How dead is it? I recently replaced the brushes on mine, and cleaned it up in the process. It's running as smoothly as ever. I love those makita tablesaws.

Died a horrible death, one of the new kids on the job took my truck to get lunch, But forgot to close the tail gate, he must have been driving like an ####, saw fell out of the bed on the road & is mangled. I wish new brushes would help.

Did your employee step up to the plate and accept responsibility? If not, where's he working now?-Jazzdogg-

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.

He owned up to it. Maybe there is some hope there, but It still looks like I'm F**** on the saw & stand

How about trying to find the same model on ebay? Here's one....http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42296&item=7520841289&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Check Ebay I found the listing, 200 + 40 shipping for a used saw, seems steep, Makita 10" is selling for 300 w/ a 50 rebate, I think i'd go that route & pop for a new stand. Thanks

          3. gregb | Jun 03, 2005 05:45am | #11

Yeah, I thought it was a bit steep, too. If you can wait it out, there's a chance you can find one for less. You could also check Amazon. IIRC, they sell the mak saw & stand combo. Don't know what the savings is over buying separately.

          4. saulgood | Jun 03, 2005 01:23pm | #12

Sorry about your saw. I do think the makita has got to be the most popular contracter saw, at least from what I've seen. Check out http//http://www.craigslist.com
and I bet you find one in your area, between 1 and 2 hundred bucks, within a week. If not, how about selling me your old stand?

send me your email address ,If I can't make this work I'll let you know about the stand. Andy

I am in NY, Where are you?

I have an 8" Makita I'd part with, or if you buy a new one I'd be interested in the stand.

Neither deal will work if there is a lot of shipping.

you need to measure the "table"

my boss has an older rousseau table with no saw.

I am trying to find out if the new saws will still fit also.

lemmme know what you find out.

ACTUALLY, IT'S QUITE GOOD ON TOAST!

  3. gregb | Jun 03, 2005 05:11am | #4

Is it the older saw with the knob insted of the handwheel for adjusting the blade? If so, no dice on transferring the table- the saws are different sizes.

    1. cic317 | Jun 03, 2005 05:16am | #5

I guess you ran into a similar problem, Thanks

      1. gregb | Jun 03, 2005 05:29am | #8

Yeah. Actually, I bought a Rousseau table for my newer model Makita last winter, & the store accidentally gave me a model for the older saw. When I went to assemble it, it dawned on me what had happened, & I exchanged it for the right one. So I guess I had the same but different problem. ;>

You're out of luck unless you can find another saw that size. I have the same setup and love it but am fearing the day that the saw dies. I have had the saw for 18 years now and the table set up for 7. I use them daily but if you're good to the tools, they'll last. I'm thinking of getting one from E-bay as a backup.
