Router as fast rotozip in 1/2 roof decking?
I need to cut 240 12″x40″ rectangle holes in 1/2″ osb to gain access to a attic space and also reduce the weight of the roof. Id feel safer knowing I was only cutting 9/16 deep and wondered if I could use a router?
Thanks

Why do you need 800 sq ft of attic access? I seriously doubt that this will make a significant difference in the weight of the roof. Yes you could use a router. Why not just use a circular saw set to 1/2" depth?
I sure hope he replies as I sure have no idea of the project.
I need to gain access to install more insulation and also gusset strap new over hung rafters to the existing.. My 2x6 floor joists are cantilevered four feet out is why attention to weight.
Yes I can use a circular saw, but used on sagging decking, it either doesn't completely cut through, but then wants to nick my 2"x2" trusses. I wondered if the router bit could have a bearing and ride along the existing truss as a guide and make the project easier. Im not worried about speed.
You should be able to find (at a decent tool supply) a bottom bearing pattern router bit.
Ive never tried it myself.
So, just a regular bottom bearing pattern router bit? Because I see compression flush trim router bits also. Can you recommend a good long lasting brand?
Thanks
osb will quickly dull your router bits, so maybe you can make your cut with the saw a bit wide of the trusses and then go back and clean things up once you have the piece of osb out of the way. It will be faster than routing and less messy as well.
