We are about to try out RTA (ready to assemble) cabinets for everything but the kitchen in a custom we are finishing. Have all the catalogs and details from the KD boxmakers and door/drawerfront folks, etc. Here is a detail question. Wherever we have the ends of cabinet runs visible, as in a vanity against one sidewall only, we want to cap the cabinet box side with a stile and rail panel to match the doors and drawer fronts on the face of the unit. Everything is frameless, full overlay. Will we bring the edge of side panel flush to box face, i.e., to the back face of the doors and drawer fronts? Or should we bring the edge of the side panels all the way out to the door face? With the first choice, we will have an inside corner visible, showing the door edge and the panel edge. Option two will show as a 3/4″ panel edge, flush out to the door face, with a small margin between. What do you do when you use RTA cabs in this situation?

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.
