My 15 year old hose (thats right, 15 years old) red rubber contractors hose finally bit the dust. I am having a heck of a time finding a replacement.
I love the red rubber because it is stiff, does not kink, ever, and is 3/4 and the repair fittings work without heating up the ends of the hoses.
I have tried Home Depot, Home Base, and Grainger. No luck. All the hoses are now vinyl, even the red “contractor” types. All of them can be kinked by hand with your thumb and forefinger.
Does anyone know where one can get these wonderfull hoses anymore? Or are they obsolete, I guess like me?
Thanks in advance.

*In the eastern U.S., Lowe's home centers carry hoses of the type you describe - 3/4" abrasive resistant red rubber with "non-crush" brass fittings on the end. They are labeled as "contractor grade". I bought one, then I went back and bought another.

I have a local hose fabricator make us hoses like this all the time. They are virtually indestructable in our plant. The only downfall is that the ends are crimped like hydraulic hose, though there may be a better way. These also take 150 psi with no problem.

I have some Makita brand red rubber contractor grade airhose that is plenty bomber. Of course I'm a young guy so I can't say how it compares to the hose of the good old days.
