After about one year grab bars in our shower stall started to rust. Removing the bars showed that the bolts and metal pieces connecting the grab bars to the walls were also starting to rust badly. Are there any products on the market which will prevent or inhibit or stop the rust.

Try controlling humidity with a vent or at least keeping door open after a shower. You should change the bars with all brass or stainless, not plated. Although hangers rusting is not a problem, I always rub on little plumber's grease on the little locking screws. For this reason, I stopped using those vanity lights with chrome or brass plated metal boxes. I either recommend a wood front fixtures or mirror fronts if the clients can afford them.
