I am in search of ten squares of 30 or 40 year Elk shingles in the color of Sablewood. This color was phased out of production when GAF bought Elk. My distributor said there are still closeouts here and there. I picked up two squares and thought I’d try a shot in the dark to find some more. Willing to travel the Southeast to pick them up or would check into shipping if possible.
We are building an addition on a house and getting the original discontinued shingles would prevent a total reroof.

Is the GAF color charcoal not a close enough match for an addition?
Even if you had new Sablewood shingles to use on a repair in the middle of a roofplane---the patch can be noticeable if the older roof is several years old-----even with a entire load of new shingles---a black bundle from a different batch can jump out( black is bad for this)
but an addition-particularly if the roof plane of the addition is 90 degrees to the original roof---it may not be noticeable at all.
in your case i would be more concerned with 2 sq. from one source and 8 square from another-than I would be in using Charcoal.
Up here in Ohio- I would check a chain called Carter Lumber--that started stocking Elk several years ago----but that does not do a big volume-- they might have some sitting on a skid off in the corner.
( I know Carter Lumber is in Ohio and PA.-and I think they own big tracts of land down in the Ozarks????

Stephen, Thanks for the reply. That is exactly what I am looking for, "A skid off in the corner." Charcoal is too dark and even though the shingles have faded in the last few years Sablewood would blend in better. My clients are awesome and I don't mind going to the extreme to please them. I only need one more square to finish the left, more exposed side of the garage addition and another square to do the roof below the bump up shed dormer. (See photos) The top of the shed could be pink as it can't be seen from the ground. We will put charcoal up there.Ohio and PA is a bit far (Although I wouldn't mind coming up for some perogies smothered in onions) and I will call some roofing dealers in the NC, SC, GA area to find that skid off in the corner.
