I’m a Knothead – but you folks were able to help me a while back. Perhaps you can repeat the same advice.
I need to install a safety grab bar in my bathroom – I can’t remember the exact name – it was something like Grab-It or Grip-It. Can you help?
P.S. I suddenly thought to use the “search” function. I found the old post and the name Wingits. Several people commented that they are designed for tile. Is there a better item for use on drywall?

Blocking behind the d/w is usually the best route, but possibly not an option in your case.

You're thinking of Wingits.
Look here: http://www.wingits.com/wingits-fastening-systems.html
Wingtits will work satisfactorily for bare drywall, just not to full ADA spec strength.
Of course it's always best to mount to studs or to a backerboard when you can. But if you can't manage that then Wingit is the best alternative -- far, far better than standard toggle bolts.
Moen also makes anchors to go into drywall and tile walls for grab bars.
Lowes has them.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
The Moen units cost the same as the stainless-steel Wingit units but they're made of plastic and aren't self-sealing.

Thanks for the prompt, very prompt, replies. I have use Wingits before (at your suggestions). They worked very well. I'll go that way. Thanks again.Frosty"I sometimes think we consider the good fortune of the early bird and overlook the bad fortune of the early worm." FDR - 1922
