Where can I find sash cord for double hung windows? I have tried several places, but no one I have talked seems to know where it is available.

I found some recently at Lowe's. I've also read the FHB article on "Double-Hung Restrung" from a few years back. It was recommended that you buy a sash cord that has no separate inner line. They said, in that article, that 2 materials lead to accelerated wear - better to use the all cotton I think. I'll get back w/ you on the publication number and supplier. I want to say it is 'Magnolia Co.' or something like that.

You can get replacement chain at most any hardware store. I've seen sash chain at both Home Depot & Hechingers. The mom & pop store near me carries more expensive, but more historically accurate looking chain as well.
*Have you been looking only at home improvement centers? Our local, old-fashioned hardware store carries sash cord by the foot. A quick Alta Vista check also turned up multiple sources.

If it is cord and not chain you are looking for then the above post regarding a past article in FHB is from Dec.1990 and cites the Magnolia Sash cord made by Wellington Leisure Products of GA.
Wellington has a website and i've emailed them in the past and gotten no reply. I couldn't find their product in my market, so, they lost out.
*GlennJust replaced a couple sash cords today, got the cord at Menards, it only came in 50' & 100'. Have a lot left for the next time!!Good luckVerl Kauffman
*I would try your local hardware. One thats been in buss. for along time. Or Home Depot. All it is is 3/8 cotton cord.
