Almost finished a sauna for a public pool. Bought my last material for the benches, which is clear 2×4 cedar. Do you want to know how expensive it is. Just over $40 per 8′ 2×4, makes me want to cry when I know some ingrate will carve his name in it about a week after I walk away.

we 're doing one right now, not cedar, some stuff called "obeechee" or something.
old wood was taken out, planned for reuse, exept when the pool people figured out that some bare a$$ sat and farted on any one of the boards, made them think of getting new stuff.
no turn left unstoned
"figured out that some bare a$$ sat and farted on any one of the boards...."
Reminds me of the time this one "uncouth" character was asked to replace about forty benches used for seating in a locker-room. The original seating benches were hard maple. He was told he could have this lumber if he wanted, and the company provided him with new lumber for the replacements.
He kept all the used seating, planed them down a bit, then cut them into strips, glued the strips, and sold them as meat cutting boards!
A true, and amusing story. Those cutting boards had seen a lot of "raw" meat for about 20 years prior to their new life. Ha! ha!
