Scented additive for Interior Paint

Fledge | Posted in General Discussion on October 14, 2003 12:27pm

Yup.  Found it at Walmart.  There are alot of flavors and I chose Vanilla.  Since we are selling our house, this is an extra benefit, since we are smokers, and it is supposed to last 3-6 months.  Check it out.

(thats somewhere between asking price and fantasy island)

    Well, I never!

As an asthmatic, this idea horrifies me, since sundry manner of scents, especially synthetic ones, can do me in unexpectedly. On the other hand, I'm extemely fond of the fragrances that I can tolerate. I adore vanilla; it's very, um, arousing. (Whoa, Fledge, you may just have found a buyer!)

Fledge, have you tried any of the sprayable odor-eating enzymes that are on the market? (Febreeze, for example). I used to use an unscented one when my DH and I both smoked, and we were trying to sell a house. It worked really well for us - but then I also kept windows open, and when we had a showing, would stick a bowl of cinnamon into a low-heat oven. (It probably also helped that the couple who bought the house were also smokers!)  The same stuff didn't work in my mother's apartment - but she smoked constantly, and kept all windows tightly shut.

I sure have, and ozium, and carpet sprinkles, and....

No one complains they smell smoke anymore, so all of that is working for me.

Now, last showing we turned on our surround sound and I stuck in some Tchaikovsky.

Feedback? How is too small for the price, and the music was too loud.

          puh!

I just wanna say the cutest things, like wellllll I tell you what pal, you can head on down the street and pay 500,000 and stick your speakers where the sun don't shine.

          ;-)

Amazing! Please keep us informed about how you like the fragrance initially and your reaction as time goes by (but then, someone is going to buy your house soon. Right?). Could exposure to one fragrance over time cause you to adjust to it and perhaps not notice it anymore? When I visit one of my friends, who lives in a thirty year old home, I always detect an artificial vinyl-like odor (not really good, but not bad either) in her basement. It isn't the smell of a new shower curtain, either. I notice it when I haven't been there for a while. After in the house for a while, I can't smell it anymore. Perhaps it is the old vinyl floor.

I do know this...all the lookers after the paint has been applied do not smell smoke anymore.  This could mean two different things.

I like the windows open as much as I can.  Being as I have a parrot, I am concerned.

When we were away for a week and returned I could still smell vanilla. It has been 2 months since applied. One whole room, (the mural one)

The entire kitchen and all trim work has been painted.
