We’ve been having fun with this one, and the weather has been cooperating for a change.
Here it is from the inside. The central part of the roof and ceiling is hung onto a scissored girder truss, that can be seen above and to Jack’s left.
We sent CAD files by email to our surveyor, whose large-format plotter printed the 1x size patterns we used to bandsaw the curved parts. Using spray adhesive, we stuck the paper to 2x stock, and Max spent a couple hours after lunch today bandsawing them.

Same here, Gene. I can usually see your pics but not this time. What did you do differently? Looks like you tried to embed the pics in your message?

Hey jeff, that's ok. Often gene will make a post and them seemingly vanish. He must be clairvoyant.
edit: Well count me wrong again.

And this pic, from the prototype house, shows where we are going from here.

A couple more pics now that it is framed.Gene Davis, Davis Housewrights, Inc., Lake Placid, NY
Who get's the credit for the design? There is nothing--absolutely nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Ernest H. Shepard
The architech, Sarah Susanka. Her prints showed the porch frame done differently, though.Gene Davis, Davis Housewrights, Inc., Lake Placid, NY
Very nice, Gene.....I love Susan's designs.....Her books are a joy to read and look through.......
Gene, I've got a dumb question:
On that beadboard ceiling, are you running it overtop of the walls out to the soffit, or do you run it to the wall...stop...and then from the other side of the wall to the end of the soffit?

The reason so many people never get anywhere in life is because when opportunity knocks, they are out in the backyard looking for four-leaf clovers.-- Walter Percy Chrysler
Screened porch beadboard ceiling stops at screened porch walls, then continues on other side to roof edge.Gene Davis, Davis Housewrights, Inc., Lake Placid, NY
That's what I assumed. Figured it would be a PITA the other way, but you never know...
Probably going to be helping with a 2nd floor sleeping porch renovation in late summer and just apprehensive about what we might find (other than the birds living in the roof) when we tear into it.

A couple pics of the porch rough framing, mostly done. In the view of the dormer from above, you can pick up the large arch with its 20-foot radius and 9-foot radius fillet, thus giving the dormer a curved valley with outward sweeps at the ends.
The pic from below shows the roof sheathing, two layers of 3/8" CDX, brought back far enough to pick up the laid-on rafters of the pitched roof above.Gene Davis, Davis Housewrights, Inc., Lake Placid, NY
Fantastic! I always marvel at the talent here.....
I can't. No pics here ...
