Was just answering a question about how to shim doors and it got me to thinking…..I said I use finish screws under the shims…Made me think…..I think I use my screw gun as much as I do my hammer. Just seems more exact and permanent. I even use a screwgun to nail my subflooring down. Wonder all in all if I use my screw gun more then my hammer.I know if I was just a framer it wouldn’t be the case but all in all….geezzzz, never really thought about it till now

The most common way to make your own parging mix is to use either Type S mortar for block or Type N for brick and add a concrete bonding additive.

So if your wife accuses you of screwing everything in sight, she's right?
Sorry couldn't resist. In some places it's just better to screw. No pun intended. Screwing down a subfloor is better than nailing IMHO. But a ringshank does do a prety good job.
In a lot of instances you can get a lot more holding power with a screw.

*When it comes to driving fastners, my hammer is way down the list just above my linemans pliers. No seriously though, I use a screew gun and nail guns to drive probably 95% of all fastners on my jobs. The screew gun is closing in on the framing nailer pretty fast.
*Been using screws to hang exterior doors, tuck screw behind weatherstripping.
*Screws resist pulling out far better than nails, and unless they're those crappy brittle dry wall screws, they're comparable for shear. So, all in all, they're a better fastener. Unfortunately, the codes say nails, so we gotta use them.-- J.S.
*I've been using a hammer to drive my screws.
*For remodeling it is important to screw since you don't need to worry about shaking the rest of the house apart.
*You can screw without shaking the house apart ???Man, must be real exciting around your house.b : )
