Has anyone ever used a sealant coat over laminate flooring to protect it from liquids? If yes, what works?
Why? We missed cleaning up part of a spill and the laminate bubbled where moisture got in at the seams. In order to prevent further problems, I was hoping there was some sort of coating which could be applied without damaging the laminate.
Thanks for you assistance.

Addendum: A bit of research – the surface layer is a melamine of some sort. Any coating would need to be unable to dissolve melamine and low moisture. The manufacturer, Mannington, does not have any coatings at this time – I suggested they pass the idea on to their research staff as I can’t be the only one to have had this problem.

I don't know about a sealant, as I've never tried one, but my experience with Pergo in our kitchen has been that water at a joint may cause swelling, but it goes down after it dries out. I imagine the damage could be permanent if there was too much water for too long, but perhaps you'll get lucky when it dries.
