Please help! I’m looking for a sealer for my deck I built about four years ago. The decking is white Port Orford Cedar. The first two years I tried Thompson’s but it never dried and I ended up removing it with rags. Ever since those attempts I now only clean it with soap and water and a deck brush in the spring. Looks great after I’m done but soon after it starts to gray (which is fine) but, when someboby sits on it their clothes turn black! Is there a special sealer for this decking or should I continue to just clean it every year? Thanks in advance!!

I think Caots and Siekins both have good deck stains that you can get in natural.
Thompsons is wax based rather than oil so it often puddles without drying or soaking in. Port Orford has a lot of its own oils already so you might need a type that will surface coat instead of seeping in.
*I've had excellent results with Penofin. Probably need to refresh every 2-3 years. No way around some kind of maintainance if you want a wood deck. -Ken
