About to put Hardieplank on a new house. Corner boards will be their new (in our area) Hardie Trim. Have read their literature till I am blue, and cannot find the answer to this question – How do you seal the vertical joint between the two corner boards? Caulk? Glue? Bubble gum? You cannot run screws into the cut edge of Hardie Trim – it causes it to delaminate; so you cannot draw them up tight. Do you have to (Should you) flash behind that joint? None of the sellers have been able to answer the question. All I get is Humma, Humma, Humma, obviously dumb answers that don’t even remotely pass any commonsense test and a subject change. Calling their local rep has been a disappointment; only an office phone and a pager and he’s always on the road and calls back when I’m out. Sheese!
