Getting my roof replaced this week, and I asked to have a ridge vent installed as my current roof does not have one. Question is should I then seal up my two gable vents to help with the air flow process.
House was built in 68’ and is a two story home right on the edge of zone 4-5. It does get pretty hot up there currently and I did have a bat issue last year.
thoughts?

A ridge vent works in conjunction with eave vents - hot air goes out the ridge vent drawing cooler air in through the eaves. Older style gable end vents seldom were used with eave vents. Plan accordingly.
