Secure Dishwasher To Underside Of Granite Counter
Dishwasher is installed under a granite counter. I need to attach the anti tip clips. Some say it’s ok to drill into the underside of a granite counter top and some say it’s not ok.

The Titan ControlMax 1650 cordless backpack paint sprayer is handy for medium-sized projects like a shed.

Either use the alternate mounting scheme to attach to the adjacent cabinet face or glue (epoxy) the anchor clips to the rock.
Jim
Drilling the underside of a stone countertop and inserting plastic anchors to screw to has been done but...
either look to the DW INSTRUCTIONS OR FOR PLASTIC PLUGS OR HOLES ON THE SIDES OF THE DW.
you can fasten to the cab side as an option on most current models. Some, you take off the top mounting clips and turn and mount to the side of DW.
or
get a universal mounting bracket or screw pads from the granite supplier. You silicone or epoxy those to the underside of the stone. Some even just put the mounting screw through the mtg bracket and into a nut and silicone/epoxy that to the bottom and clamp. When dry, the nut is "mounted" to the counter.

Manufacturer has an anti-tip bracket that gets screwed to the floor at the front of the dishwasher as the alternative to the undercounter attachment. Instructions have no mention of a side mount attachment.
Not a DW salesman.......
And non of the DW's I've installed have had that feature.
whats the make and model #?
Me Neither
Kitchen Aid KUDM25shbt1. Bracket is part # 4378968.
'Great....
yet another change to deal with.
saw a picture of the bracket, but no explanation. Would guess that's an answer to mounting alternatives. I'd call kitchen aid for details.
floor mount gives no connection up top or the sides, which seems counter intuitive.
top mt. worked, then came stone. Side mount worked just fine.
be interested to know how and just why there's another alternative.
Kitchen Aid
I called them.....no documentation regarding any other attachment methods. I also spoke to their parts supplier....they have side mounting brackets but don't know if they can be used with this particular model. I'll take another look at the cabinet sides to see if the side mounts can be made to work.....stay tuned.

Can you believe these companies? You wonder how or if they dress themselves in the morning.
take a look at this

granite grabbers.
looks too easy. Never used them but the are the same idea as other methods I mentioned.

Another option. Somebody thought of it even if the appliance manufacturer didn't. It's and elderly friend's kitchen. Based on the age of the house it was probably done as part of the kitchen remodel and I'm wondering why somebody didn't secure the dishwasher. The town requiries both a plumbing and electrical permit just to replace a dishwasher. I'm going to take another look at the dishwasher and see which is the best option for securing it to preventing tipping. Thank you for your input and tips (no pun intended).
Yo
How old you gotta be to get on that elderly area?
Not Sure When One Is Old
Age is a number. Some seem old before their time. My friend isn't really that old but just out of shape and a bit overweight.....acts elderly.
I've seen schemes for ranges where the bracket is screwed to the floor near the back, and then a hook engages is as the unit is pushed into position. Makes no sense to have a bracket near the front.
Floor Mount
I can't find any mounting instructions on-line so it could very well be that the bracket gets attached at the back.....stay tuned.
I've been afraid of damaging the granite if I try and drill a hole from underneath. So, I've always used the side mounted clips into the adjacent cabinet for anchoring.
Too much liabiltity if you crack the countertop.
Bob.
dont know what brand they use but i have always seen the granite guys use this kind:

except they use epoxy to attach.

Thank you. I went to the web site and watched the video. I'll call them Monday. They have a list of authorized retailers but I didn't recognize any as local to me.
core drill it
We use a 3/8" diamond core drill bit to drill out granite/stone counter tops for top mounting brackets. Use slow speed and try to have an assistant use a spray bottle to shoot the bore area thereby keeping it cool while you drill. It is a bit little messy drilling from underneath, but imparts virtually no stress on the countertop because your grinding and not hammer drilling. It works just fine. Tap out the cored plug with a drft pin once you get about 5/8" deep and then insert a wood dowel plug for a fastening anchor point that the DW bracket screws can wedge into.
Diamond Core Drill Bit
Another option.
Thank You
