I have a customer who has one of those metal framed security screen doors on the front door. The metal frame is 1/2″ square tubing that is attached to the house with those “security” screws – the kind that will only allow the screw to be screwed in, but not back out.
The door needs some work and I need to remove it but am stymied by those #$%^ screws. Is there a special tool, or do these get removed by using something like an EZ out?
Thanks

grab the screw head with a pair of vice grips and they will come right out. when you re install just use regular lag scews
These screws are also found on things like towel holders in bathrooms and vents and so on.
There was a story about a reporter doing an interview with a prisoner. Somebody needed to get some of these screws out, so the prisoner showed them how. He heated up the end of his toothbrush and pushed it firmly onto the head of one of the screws. With his new tool, he proceeded to unscrew the cover.
