Security system for construction site
I am currently working on a complete renovation of an 1876 three –story home. I had an analog security system installed. My problem is I want to use a cell phone to call me and/or my son-in-law that lives 2 blocks from the site. Does anyone know of a system that I can use to replace my analog with a digital system? The company that I paid to install the system said “You would not need our services if we installed that type of systems†<!—-><!—-> <!—->

I have an elk system that calls my cell for alerts.
Best buy is also selling a system that I beleive will accomplish what you want.
Do you have a model number.
I have the Elk m1 gold system. It's not a cheap system but it does seem to have more functionality than other systems. I bought through http://www.homesecuritystore.com
DeWalt has "Mobilelock" I have no experience with it but it sounds like it would do what you need it to. http://www.dewaltmobilelock.com/main.asp Maybe others may have real world feedback on it.

I had a system that called the police. From what I remember there was a equipment box that wires from different components entered in and connected.
It seems to me that you can plug different components into your system. The signal from your alarm would go into a unit that would call your number.
Right now that signal just tells your indicator lights and your alarm to go off.
The only reason they were in a box is for code and so it looks tidy.
I'd call independent alarm installers or an independent electronics contractor.
They could find the unit, make sure it is compatible, plug it in, and test it.
Find another alarm company. Several here advertise such systems. DeWalt markets such a system. Even Paul harvey was shilling such a 'portable' system for renters.
Same thing for documentation ... feed cameras on to the internet, and keep the record at a remote site (like your home). A failure of the connection would itself sound an alarm / trouble signal.
