We are installing in-swing French doors — sourced from Marvin — off our dining room to an outdoor patio, and are trying to make a decision on retractable screen doors. There doesn’t seem to be much useful perspective on the general internet: for example, after looking over Reddit commentary from the last few years, we found ourselves more uncertain than when we started.  So we thought this community might be more reliable and helpful.

Curious if any homebuilders/installers have a point-of-view on:

– Which specific after-market brands operate the best and are most reliable

– Whether it is worth the additional expense to go with the Marvin option for retractable doors. Their system is ~ $3K, including installation. Our door supplier will not sell us the doors with the retractable screen option us unless they install it, citing the intricacy of installation.
