self leveling compound under a wood floor
Hello. The last post I can find about this was from 12 years ago. Um wondering if anyone has invented a self leveling compound of sorts that I can use across my sub floor (110 yo house) before doing the nail down of my 3/4″ red oak?
Changing my subfloor is not an option.
I believe concrete self leveling will crumble or antagonize the nails.
Assuming there is no product available, what tricks have worked well for others? I read about tapering felt layers but I don’t believe this will keep much integrity over time….
Thanks all!

Take a look at a product called Ardex. You should be able to use self leveling under the wood as long as your build up isn't too thick to prevent the nail form getting good holding depth.
I have used wide smooth cedar shingles, whatever the grade is called for use under the decorative striated wall shingles. Now if that patched in floor is way whacko, that might be another story.
