*Basically ya sell yourself.
*Are you a professional? If you are then you probably resent the fast buck artists and do-it-yourselfers. Selling is a skill, a well paid skill because most people can't do it well. (salesmen are the #2 paid profession, only doctors are better paid) Selling will take a long time to learn to do well. If you want to try it you will have a learning curve that starts out very flat and takes a long time to steepen. If you hestate to approach strangers and ask for directions you won't be successful, if you'd rather avoid asking neighbors for a contribution to a worthy cause then you won't be successfull. Now having said that let me try to help you with some basic techniques. Try to put yourself in your customers shoes. try to understand what motivates him and figure out a way to let him achieve that goal while you achieve yours. That's called a win-win deal. When you go into a deal that way you can look him fairly in the eye and he can understand that you are trying to help rather than cheat. Deals get done that way. The final bit you need to understand is this, If I can will you? Never ever give anything away without something in return. For example, If I can give you a off the cuff quote will you come back to me for your final bid? If I can come down $2000.00 on the price will you sign right now? If I can start right now will you let me take two days off to go hunting next week? There are many good books with some bits of knowledge in them the two I recommend to new comers are the old classics. Zig Ziglears The Art of the Deal and Shut up and Sell (sorry I can't remeber the author and I've lent my copy)
*If I can start right now will you let me take two days off to go hunting next week? Once you enter into "negotiating" from both sides, the deal is done. It's just the details that are being worked out.
*to the people that replied I thank you very much and I have some more readin...thanks again.....rein
