Has anyone had the experience of selling their home in 5 days, using the method described in “How to Sell Your Home in 5 Days” by Bill Effros?
My parents have had their house for sale for almost a year, with no serious offers. I heard about this 5-day method a few years ago, but forgot about it until I saw the book in the bookstore. It seems like it should work, but I’m interested in hearing from anyone that has actually used the method. Thanks!

Robin,
Sounds interesting.
We have not used the book, but our first offer on the home we sold this summer came 9 days after listing. Herself, who is the family real estate expert, asked for more details but off the top suggested changing realtors. Hopefully the listing was not allowed to lapse. That shows on the records and alerts potential buyers.
How is the location? How does the thing show? Is anything in the area selling? It is overpriced? What are the comps? Does it look '60s - green shag and harvest gold appliances, etc.?
Step 1 was to send me south with a 17' truck full of assorted boxes of "non-essentials" This got the clutter out of state and made the place look spacious. Part of a process they call "staging" It works. We just don't have to pay someone $10K to do it. We have good taste and furniture. The buyers were entranced by the decorating (not, IMHO, a sufficient reason to buy a given house) and were busy trying to buy stuff to match what we had. So it goes.

Sounds like a get rich scheme for the author.
