Has anyone tried the Senco “Air Free” Battery Powered finish nailer? I would like to here some comments before making a purchase. Was wondering how it did with oak and maple trim. Thanks.

I had a chance to try one out at the tool store where I buy my nail guns. I tried the 18 ga. and it seemed to be a decent nailer. I shot a couple nails into a pallet. Depth of drive is adjustable with a simple turn of a knob. I did surmise that it would not be useful in a production situation. However, I just did a small trim job this week and have decided to go out and get one. Dragging a compressor and hose for 30 ft. of trim is too time consuming. I'll let you know how it pans out.

I was thinking about getting one and checked out the customer reviews on Amazon.com and they got quite a few bad reviews. One star out of five. Guess they were breaking down after a clip or two of nails. I think I'll wait until they debug these thing for a year. It would be nice to get rid of the hose dragging along.
I just picked up my replacement 18 guage battery nailer at the local Senco dealer. It was replaced under warranty when the first one broke down after a month of light use. We'll see if this one is any better.
The old one would not shoot a 2" nail thru 3/4 maple trim into 3/4 plywood. it wouldn't even countersink the 1 1/4 nails satisfactorily into the same materials.
However, it worked great for small jobs and pine shoe mold.
I picked up a replacement 18 guage battery nailer at the Senco dealer, which was replaced under warranty, about 3 weeks ago. It rode around in my truck for a week and then I used it to nail down some shoe mold at my ongoing rental house project.
It worked great. Very convienent to use and easy to handle. It's really not that heavy despite the weight of the battery.
Anyway, a couple days ago I gave it to one of my guys to finish up the shoe mold and it broke down halfway thru the job. I looked and the box of 1-1/4" nails I had dropped in the case only has 3 or 4 clips gone.
I will have to try to get my money back this time. I really see no reason to get another one.
It's really a shame because we have always had such good service out of our air powered senco guns.
