Does anyone have any experiance, good or bad, with the septic rejuvenation process known as Terralift? I have an older septic system that leaks a small amount of water only during the winter.Otherwise it works fine.Local septic services here in New Yorks Hudson Valley will drain both tanks and vacume out the leach field and then do the terralift process.Seems like a good plan.

I looked into the process on the net and it could conceivably work. Septic systems are an area in which a lot of BS is marketed. Chemical treatments, for example, do not work. Flush money down the toilet and eliminate the middle man. The Terralift system claims to work by micro-fracturing the soil. Since the usual failure of conventional septic systems comes from trench wall contamination by microparticles, this solution is problematic. Trench wall contamination comes from not pumping the tank regularly. I suggest you check out the National Smallflows Clearing House at

There is a searchable data base and a forum. You might find some unbiased information here. Do not trust anyone who is selling something.
When you say your system "leaks" I assume you must mean that there is visible surface water. Since this only occurs seasonally, I feel that it may be a ground water problem rather than system failure. Your local health department, or whoever regulates installations in your area, probably has some information. If you have an alternative system there can be any number of causes of problems depending on the system.
Keep us posted.
