Hi,
I have a question about how to properly cap a now redundant line running to the main sewer stack. Please see the attached image.
Originally, this black hose was for the condensate from the natural gas furnace. We’ve had a new furnace install with a pump and a hose that extends to the drain for the washing machine.
I would like to remove this hose but this isn’t a standard abs fitting that I am comfortable dealing with, and clearly it has caused the previous owner a problem in the past (caulking). Due to the location, fixing it right may be a very costly endeavour.
Thoughts?
Regards,
Brian

Take a look at a cast iron no- hub coupling. You could slip one around the cast iron pipe and snug up the hose clamps. It should take care of your issue.
