They do look comfy.
Any chance they are self sharpening?
it doesn't matter because i don't think you are actually supposed to use it.
Lee Valley has a good rep for making nice planes. I heard they were coming out woth a new line of top grade tools.
But as far as looking good, have you ever seen an infill plane, like a Norris or Spiers? Now those are good lookin' planes!
You ever work with a Norris or Spier? When tuned, they are really great. Friend of mine has the Norris coffin smoother and it really is a joy to work with.
The LN 604 1/2 is just as good I think though.
Nah- all I've done is drool over them.
I almost bought a Shepherd Tools infill plane kit. I'm glad I didn't, because they ended up going closing shop without delivering everything promised.
That Lie-Nielson 4-1/2 is another one I'd like to have. I play with one every time I'm at a tool show where they're exhibiting. Some day I'm gonna break down...
I have a genuine Stanley Bedrock 604 1/2, flat top on the sides. It's tuned and quite nice. Garret Hack said to put a new Clifton blade in along with the split breaker and you will have a smoother that's really second to none. Like you....somedayThe LN 4 1/2 is nice because it's you can get that york pitched frog for crazy woods like burls.
I only have two, but I love the LN planes.
Does it vibrate? Because for $189.00 it better do more than shave wood.

...and $189 is for the ductile iron version. The nickel alloy version is 299$. But those are Canadian prices. For you in the USA, it would be $179 and $279.
Sexy planes have wings!
Mike
they keep them behind glass in their show room , i heard it was because of the drool
