Steven,
Last summer we added an addition through the roof of a lakeside home. The house is sided with double-coverage shingles at 14" exposure.
I had an old piece of literature from Shakertown, and to me they seemed to be just the ticket here! Otherwise I was envisioning hours of sitting on the steep roof, cutting shingles and backer shingles for those cheek walls. Being able to just run the saw over a 2' x 8' sheet of shingles sounded good to me.
I inquired at my local supplier whose answer was; that for such a small order it really didn't make sense to go to all the trouble of ordering. They insisted it would be "quicker just to put them on by hand".
I checked Shakertown's web page, and found the phone number for their area rep. He said sure he could get them for me! Which he did drop-shipped to my house!
They were a dream to install. 2 men 4 hours. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the info Jon.
I'd still like to hear from anyone here in the pacific northwest area (or from a similarly wet climate).

*Do you have an 800 number or other contact infor for Shakertown?
*I know a sider in Portland, OR, who has put Shakertown on at least five houses in the past two years. Only once was there a problem - there was a quality control issue at the factory, and imperfect parts were sent to the field. Shakertown fixed the problem pronto, and even PAID MONEY to the sider to fix the problems caused by their factory defects!I'll get his name, and email to you if you like.

Brian, the phone number for Shakertown is 1-800-426-8970, and the fax number is 360-785-3076. All this and more (tech. specs, etc.) is available at their web site, which, amazingly, is http://www.shakertown.com

Steven,
Our company doesn't do too much siding, but on one old house we used the Shakertown product. The company was good to deal with-no problem there. However, I found that this particular house required so many cuts that individual shakes would have been more efficient. The time spent on many exacting measurements and layouts on panels really adds up. On large open runs, though, you can't beat it! Also, a very handy tool for this work(panels or individual shakes) is a powerful cordless saw-I use the Dewalt 14.4.
