Greetings, new framer here.
just a question regarding sheathing with regards to 8d and the newer shank dimensions. Shopping in a big box yesterday I find 15 degree 2- 1/2” 0.099 which technically are 8d.
Do you more experienced pros use these? I was looking for some 0.131 shanks @ 2-1/2” but no luck, they seemed to scale up in size with diameter. And I don’t see the need to sink 3” 0.131’s for zip system sheathing.
Any feedback is appreciated. It’s zip system wall sheathing we’re going to be putting up.

Zip recommends hot dipped galvanized nails 0.131 x 2 1/2" with a nailing pattern of 6" edges and 12" in field.
Thanks for the response Eric. When I did a google search I got the same information, however when I read the Huber installation manual for more details they actually do not recommend any specific fastener except to say that they should be in accordance with code.
I called the code officer and he stated as long as they are 8d he doesn’t mind and he doesn’t care about shank diameter ??♂️
So I was looking for everyone’s personal preference as most here probably have more experience and I like hearing varying opinions on this stuff.
