I want to add a 10 by 30 foot porch to the side of my gable roofed house. I am leaning towards a shed roof. The house is 28′ wide with a 7′ rise. From the stand points of looks and proper construction what would the correct rise /run for the addition be. The building is located in Texas. Thanks for any and all help.

I take a few things into consideration, like views out windows, and sun angle, and is the porch and finish house floor on the same level or dropped down? Head room at the out side of the porch has to be considered.
So..anything BUT flat, is pretty much where I start.

I am presently am thinking that the porch and house be on the same level. Would like to have 7 to 8, of head space at the outside of the porch
Texas + at the gable end makes a hip roof on this sound better to me.
