At the Smithsonian Folklife Festival today I saw a Welsh timber frame home insulated with sheepswool!
The product tag says it has very good acoustic insulating properties, r-value(unknown), is rot resistant, and plentiful. At least in Wales. Not yet exported here. But interesting.

A white piece of paper taped to the back of the bubble window on a spirit level makes the bubble easier to see in low-light conditions.
