We are building INLAND in New England and want to have a cedar shingle exterior. We are concerned however that the shingles could turn black with mildew (or whatever else does that) and ruin the look. We want the shingles to have the weathered grey of the seacoast and we don’t want alot of maintenance. Suggestions?

Cement shingles?
Ain't gonna happen.
You can use Maibec's prestained shingles in cape cod grey but they will still harbor mildew. You could wash it down every year, I supose, if you are careful.
