Any fancy way of lifting a roof shingle to check for underlayment, felt paper? Without making a mess or cracking, breaking the shingles. Something doesn’t look right when I look at the roof. It’s spells out that it’s missing something.

You can check the shingles near the Gutter/Eaves. You should be able to just gently lift it up. Otherwise you would have to grab a hammer and pry bar and then gently remove the nails under a shingle and then check, once done, just hammer the nail back in.
Why does it not look right when you look at the roof? You can't really tell if there's underlayment just by looking at the roof once the shingles are put on. (maybe post a picture of what you're getting at)
I will be back with a few pictures. I have them on a memory stick
