After having used a 16-gallon (2″ hose) 5-hp QSP model ShopVac for a combination house cleaning and occasional debris cleanup, I am wanting to get another one for household use only. Equipped with pre filter bag and a HEPA pleated filter, for us they are more versatile then the uprights.
However, ShopVac has changed their models and now they are blue/white and more R2D2 looking. They claim they are quieter but are they quieter then the old QSP models ?
The QSP model has given us great service – quieter then the older screaming vacs. More like a loud hum. The larger 2″ hose does help reduce the offending noise.
I also noticed ShopVac is offering a pleated HEPA filter for $20, less expensive then the not-quite-HEPA Clean Stream filters.

If anyone noticed any difference in the sound level with the new models, I would appreciate feedback.
