I’m building a house that has a second floor that will have a 1’ wall framed on the subfloor with gambrel trusses setting on top. Should I be concerned with wall spread or it hinging ? I was going to run my sheeting so it catches the short wall, sub floor and 2’ of the 1st floor wall.

What has your truss manufacturer said?
The whole idea of a truss is that there is no outward thrust. You can put a truss on an 8' wall, why not a 1' wall?
All depends on truss manufacturer/design as already stated. When we stick frame houses with the roof on knee walls, we use ridge beams if cathedral ceiling is desired. Meaning the bottom chord of the truss/ framing is omitted.
What seismic zone are you in? You may find it better to balloon frame this portion of the wall and do the proper fire blocking. Or you could have an engineer tell you how many tie rods you need to keep this little wall attached to the wall below under the lateral forces pushing on the gambrel roof e.g. the bottom portion of the gambrel ought to be laterally calculated as a wall since it's slope will be greater than 12:12.
I’m in mid Missouri and don’t have them issues. I did contact the truss mfg and they said there would be no issues with wall spread. Still I’m going to sheet it from the top down to tie the wall to the first floor even tho that don’t stop the hinge effect or spread, and also do tie-downs.
And the sheeting at the 2' down from the first floor ceiling needs to be attached to fully blocked studs in most earthquake or higher wind zones.
