I have been reading Malcom Wells on earth-sheltered housing. I’m interested in building at least partially into a hillside with lots of south facing glass. I like the idea of using concrete, for its strength and thermal mass. The many foam type concrete forms are an efficient way to build with concrete, but having the thermal break between the concrete and the living space prevents the concrete from acting as a thermal mass. So, I’m looking into shotcrete, known earlier as gunite. Can anyone familiar with this technique point me in the right direction, books, forums, web sites, magazine articles, or what not.

*Concrete Construction magazine, American Concrete Institute, Portland Cement Association, etc. Randy
*I don't know anything about shotcrete, but why can't you insulate the outside of the foundation with 2 or 3 layers of 2" rigid insulating panels?
