Beautiful morning. Too cold to ski just yet, it’s about seven below. Maybe by about 11.
Here’s a view from our breakfast table, peeking through the trees. Whiteface mountain is calling me.
Here’s the backyard from the window just behind me. I’m one floor down from the previous pic.

i'm jealous beyond words.
Looks like you live on a mountain top. Is that Whiteface in the first pic? Very beautiful country.
We are at 2000 feet elevation. Whiteface, nine miles out there, is about 5000 at the summit.
I was there during Thanksgiving and I think it was about 65* then.
So...you skiing or what?
Be well and have fun
andy... 7 hours south

Skiing? You bet.
8:30 am (first gondola ride) each day, until maybe 10:45 am. The mountain is a nine mile ride through the notch from where we are.
The sunshine days are the best, and there have been quite a few over the last ten days. Doin' laps on Mountain Run this morning was a workout.
The upper mountain is all open, with the big double black diamond, Skyward, in great condition.
I'm thinking about some new boards. Lookit what Atomic says about their SuperCross models:
Supercross
Why fly down steeps, fast turns, gliding sections, bumps and crud all by yourself when you could be doing all that shoulder to shoulder with some other nut who’s just as crazy as you are? Yes, one could say it’s an aggressive sport. That’s why we built this disturbed family of skis to meet its needs. These skis might look a bit obnoxious on the outside, but their soul realizes that SX is about much more than rampant competitiveness. It’s about slicing a perfect line without poking a hole in your competitor’s cheek.
You coming up?

You coming up?<<<<<<<<Damn...don't tempt me bro. Keep thinkin' of hittin' Hunter being its only 3 hours away but here I sit...lol.
I had some real nice Atomics with the ESS bindings...great ride. With those bindings you can slip em' back and forth for ither bumps or long runs or whatever...actually worked too...lol.
But I finally scored some curved boards and didn't end up w/ the Atomics..actually haven't skiid in 2 years...wahhhhhhhhhh...brand new skiis too.

I was an avid skier for many years in my youth, and only skied one time since then about 5 years ago.
How expensive is it anymore? How much for a lift ticket? Seasonal? Equipment? You ski with parabolics? I just couldn't stand the lines, I grew up where there were hardly any, but I guess if you're a NY'er, you're used to it.
Jer
Hunter's pretty reasonable far as ski resorts go. I think it's about $50 for a lift ticket during the week. Its never that crowded if you can do midweek. Conditions ain't like out west but Hunter really grooms their mtn well I've always found.

Is this the first big snow of the year? I've been in the area in the past. It's beautiful. My uncle has a place in Blue Mountain Lake. We used to hike in Kheen Valley and Jay. I know he hasn't had much snow yet. Well good luck sking.
Headstrong, I'll take on anyone!
Lovely Lake Placid. Memories of my past. I worked in Lake George for several summers and used to go up and hike the Keene Valley Mtns. like Mt Giant. Done Marcy and Whiteface and a few others. Biggest state park in the nation I believe. Beautiful beautiful Adirondacks. Man but don't it get c-c-c-c-cold up there!!
Brrrrrr!
-18* here this morning!
Wind Chill -33*.
Kids are excited...No school today...too cold to wait at the bus stops.
