Well, the wife was gettin cranky about not havin a towel rod in the one bathroom we have almost finished..
Bein as I am tryin to sneak away to the fest, I figgured I’d whip somethin up..after an evening at the workbench, I had it.
Seems I can overengineer anything, given enough time..so here’s what I came up with..brown ash with maple tusk tenons and a decorative doo-dad to meebe hang a bathrobe on..being as all the new trim in the house will be sorta kinda “Craftsman/log home-ish” outta the same wood..it will fit right in.
I used a thick cut of shellac for a sealer, then scraped most of it off again..gives it an antique look..pastewax and done.
brownie points for me..

Nice!!
so doesthis mean you'd rather spend the evening at walmart than at the workbench???
No. I love my shop time more than anything..just that for 5 bucks I coulda got the same reaction..lol.
I have never seen a store bought towel holder that I thought was any thing different than any other device..so, I broke stride and took a tangent..
I still have miles of trim to make for this place..I'll get lots of shoptime real soon.

wheneva - - drove down to 'Farmland IN' today, got checked out on the blade sharpening system for the woodmizer, loaded it up and brought it home - now, if I just had a place to put it....Halbert is bringing the mill up in a day or two - now, if I just had a place to put it....
there's probably 80 blades for that thing and 70 of them need sharpening - @ 20 minutes a piece - hmmm... did I mention that I don't have any place to put it? - - gonna put the mill under dads pole shed, but before I can do that, I gotta move $2K worth of cardboard packaging I've got taking up space - - I wish I had a place to put that....
picking apples tomorrow, ate the first peach tonight, they'll be comin' on soon - told wife I would take her to MI next week, about an hour before Halbert called about the mill and the 80 log job not far from here that would pay for a signifigant % of the mill, only I'm gonna go to MI and spend money instead...."there's enough for everyone"
um..well, OK!..see, I got a lot of room in the back 40..an a bunch of PT 3x5 8 footers...an, an, some 5 vee roofin..mebbe, park the mill here huh?
ok I'm kiddin..I am glad ya got it tho'...you are magic with that thing..I have been planing some, and the first hit an miss passes are mostly hittin...good sharp blade ya had..and ys didn't rush the feed...I can tell.
you'll find room I am sure..

it will fit right in
Almost too pretty . . .
I can see the RE type now, "Comes with all you see here, except the towel bars & accessories . . . "
Saw something similar--but cannot remember where or when (Mondays, shseesh!)--had stiles, areond 4/4 x 3" x 84" which tapered of in the last 36" or so to end at the base board (followed the grain beautifally). The stiles had a row of nice square mortices about 6" o.c. from about 39" a.f.f. up to the top. There were three rail/rods with wedge tenons (like for a workbench) to hold them in place. Looked like someone had measured the towel users in the place and installed a rod at "just right" for each.
