Okay we installed a new shower and the built up curb came out rather well. The tile setter installed lath over the waterproof membrane. the lath was mudded and then a marble saddle was used to cap off the top of the curb and the vertical sides were tiled. It’s all well and good for a while except the marble curb top has come adrift. It came off in one piece and it looks like it was attached to the curb with thinset- seemed like pretty good coverage so I’m not sure why the thinset would let go.
So my question is: should I try to re-attach the marble with another layer of thinset (seems like this wouldn’t be a great idea if it let go once before) or can I use a polyurethane glue such as a locktite PL type? Seems to me the poly would be the better way to go…

First I'd call back the tile guy.
if he didn't show, I have reset loose tile with PL Premiun and had it last. Be sure to tip the saddle in slightly, and make sure the expensive door fits as before.
Marble-compatible thinset
Avoid the use of an adhesive. To avoid future cracking and/or delamination, the entire piece should lie on a bed of thinset. Re-do the work with a marble-compatible thinset. You want something that won't, over time, allow moisture to get beneath the cap. You'll be paying $30 or more for a sack of thinset of which you will use a few cups full. If your contractor is as good as his/her word, he/she will gladly redo this work at no expense to you. I will do this even 5 yrears after installation! It reaps huge PR benefits. Good luck.
