Hey ya’ll
My corner shower has tile on two sides. The third side is 3.5″ glass block held together with silicone caulk, that is only a half wall 55″ tall sitting on the tub surround. The ceiling above is 48″ away. The shower is 37 1/4″ wide. I need to put up a curtain rod. I tried a spring loaded rod, but the glass block wall is not strong enough as it started to move when I attempted to put in the rod.
I want to put some kind of rod on top of the glass block, but don’t know how to attach it. A big gob of silicone? On the other side, the tile side, can use a rod socket of some sort. But what will keep the rod from sliding out, towards the block wall?
I shopped at Menards however their rods and hangers/sockets were different sizes!
Thanx

The glass wall started to move?!
I dont know if my first question would be about a shower curtain rod in this particular case.
Assuming you can keep the wall up, maybe some sort of rod that could be screwed into the tile wall attachment, and for the glass? I'd paobably like to see a pic.
Family.....They're always there when they need you.
I'm thinking I'd devise a structural shower rod to keep the glass block from falling on my toes!

Thats kinda where I was going. I cant imagine slipping in the shower and grabbing for a wall of free standing glass block.

Ditto Jeff Buck. Stainless steel schedule 40 pipe with floor flanges of the same material can be used for a structural rod. Screw the tile side into framing and use a glass bit to drill the glass block and through-bolt the flange on that end. Mcmaster.com will have what you need.Bill
I just looked, but their flanges were only cast iron or Al, no SS listed.

Look, just send me to my drawer. This whole talking-to-you thing is like double punishment.
Paul,They have stainless. Go and input "pipe flange" in the search box. The rest is obvious. It seems the term "floor flange" only takes you to specialty structural fittings.Bill
"glass block held together with silicone"
I read that and thought, "Hmmmm, this can't be good"
Then I get to, "it started to move when I attempted to put in the rod."
I'd deal with that wall separately, probably by dismantling it and setting the block in a mortar, then get a ceiling/wall hung rod similar to this photo from a place like Restoration supply.

You need a ceiling track that holds the hooks for a curtain, similar to hospital privacy curtains. I installed one two years ago that hung from chromed 1/2" pipes about 16" long. The track mounted to the vertical pipes .This was for a whirlpool tub that also had a standard shower nozzle.

Thanx, that's a good idea. Now, just to find them.
I don't like the look of shower curtain rods or track suspended from the ceiling. As shown in the attached photo, you can put shower curtain track directly on the ceiling and hang the curtain from fiberglass extension pieces they sell for this purpose. Order the track and extensions from a hospital supply company.
