Hey guys,
So how do you handle the pan liner when building a shower with a seat built integral to the floor?
Does the pan extend below the seat or since it is really “outside” of the shower base, not fall within the pan? Or do you use something like Red Guard (or whatever rubber membrane application you use) on top of the seat itself before you install the tile, marble or granite on top of it.
Thanks
Mike

I've been beating the bushes on another shower pan subject today..
My thoughts on what your asking would be to water proof the walls, set the sloped morter base, liner, top morter base as you normally would and then build your chair on top of that. dont put any holes in any of the water proofing and tile over it all. I think trying to water proof over the top of the chair structure would be a lot of funky - origomi type work with the membrane.
I just run the membrane all the way up over the seat and up the wall a little. I've never seen it done differently but there might be another way.

Most of the saets I do are fold down ADA ones, but have done a few built in ones.
Pan (concrete base) was water proofed & then the seat base was built on top of that.
They were all tile or slab style finishes.
