Better be short, since the shower head will be close to the floor!
Actually, interseting question. A real plumber will no doubt answer better then me.
Is it possible to change?

Hot & cold are now connected backwards, so the operation of the valve will be reversed.
If it's a temp control only that has full volume once the handle is spun it will start out hot then go cold as the handle is moved no big deal, but if it's a customers it wouldn't be professional to leave it.
Some valves cartridge can be reversed to fix that problem, others have to have the body put in correctly.
What model #, I might be able to tell ya if the cartridge can be reversed.
what is happening has me puzzeled i was asked to fix the water system so that the occupant can eject the hot water from the water lines for witerizing the cabin ,so at the h.w.h. i connected a flex line on the hot side to a male adapter to a spring check valve ,this is all in 3/4 pipe, check valve with flow . i then installed a tee one leg to the fixtures goes down stream the other leg of the tee has a shrader valve with a gauge . water reading is regestering 55 psi , i turn shower valve on and pressure drops to 0 then climbs slowly to 55 again . shower is 10 feet away , i dont see how it could be the check and like i said the valve is in backwards . just cannt figure how a check valve can create the fluxuation ,as long as the pressure is constant to the hwh so thought the pressure ballence may play some roll but i cannt understand that eather its only in upside down
If the check valve is not seating 100% it will allow a backflow.
Shower valves will backfeed quite easily as they are not really designed to be a backflow preventer.
If the shower valve has intergrated stops, you can shut off the one side to prevent any backflow when draining the hot water system.
If it's aready installed call Delta and see if they make a reverse core. It happened to me with a Grohe and they had one. They FedExed it to me the next day. Costly, but not nearly as much as opening the marble tiled wall would have cost.

see if you can turn the cartridge 180.just had the same thing on a peerless, just flipped the cartridge and good to go.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T
MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE
DUCT TAPE.
Just to clarify on some (Moen is like this) You just pull the handle, and rorate the inner plunger 180 degrees, on some you do pull the whole carteidge and spin it 180 degrees.Wallyo
Is it for a fact up side down or is hot and cold just in the wrong direction?
