You need to keep that crank/gear mechanism lubed. Tried that yet?

grease as mentioned. The other problem I got is the fence is a piece of junk never trues square. Have you had any problems or is it just me. I've tried adjusting but with no success. Any tips or advise
dan; yes ive lubed that thing many times, tried 3 in 1 oil, graphite lock stuff verything i can think of, even scrubed it clean in between tries
i agree the fence with the saw is garbage, not what i would have expected from delta. However mine is now equipped with the delta sidekick tablesaw stand which costs as much as the saw itself. The fence included with the stand is a really good setup and the stand itself is a miracle in design. too bad the saw is so aweful
ive owned and do own many pc products but after my experience with the sidekick, it may be my last
coincidently(im sure) the sidekick table saw was discontinnued last year
If it gets hard to crank in cold weather even when lubed with graphite, it sounds like something is getting misaligned when the frame shrinks.
Have you thought of replacing the crank with a fitting you can grab with your drill?
hey dunc , i've tried every thing the damn thing just wont move, its way too tight for a drill i have to a pair of visegrips and you know what those things do to shafts. hate to say it im ready to chuck it and buy the dewalt or bosch
Steve,
is there something on the threads? Dewalt planer at work always used to get overspray from lacquer sprayings and the threads were coated, took it apart a few weeks ago, cleaned the threads with thinner, greased and it moves easily now, before it was like your situation where it was nearly impossible to turn the handleView ImageGo Jayhawks
Man, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Delta table top tools suck. I've gone through at least 4 of their 10' tablesaws. I bought 'em cause they were cheap and disposable. They earned their keep, but I was never under the illusion that I'd keep them very long...now, that's far from the same story with our Delta Unisaw or the bandsaw, those be real tools and will probably last longer than I will. EliphIno!
have to agree have a big delta in my shop but the portables are terrible
would be willing to pay good money for a good portable table saw, looking at the bosch, dewalt and others
anybody got any suggestions, need good accuracy, portability, able to rip 3/4 hardwoods
I've got a DeWalt, and its a good saw, but my next portable one will be a Makita 10" with a Rousseau table... EliphIno!
We have 3 makitas and one table at work, they just dont die, I don't know how old they are but they look about as old as me, in reality probably about 10-15 years.View ImageGo Jayhawks
any body have experience with the ridgid saw, much as i shopping at home depot, seems like a nice saw
any other advice would be great
sorry delta / portercable but your portables suck
I have the rigid 10" portable table saw for a year and a half now . I also got the fold up stand with it . works great from -20f to + 90 in summer. Up here at HD the let you try out any Rigid,Milwaukee.or Dewalt tool for max 30 days and if you are not happy bring it back and get your money back. They may not smile every time I come back but 50% of the time I kept the tools or missed them enough that I went back and bought them.(3500) in 11/2 yrs. my HD location Ottawa Ontario Can.
I'm surprised by that policy, seems like it would turn into free rental to a lot of people. View ImageGo Jayhawks
you are right about this policy often turning into a free rental . It seems it is the mfg,s actually doing it . also it is not posted you have to ask about it . First they will tell you to rent it. However if you ask if you are not satisfied with the previously mentioned tools can you return any one of them the answer has been yes . Which i find is a great way to find the right tool for the job. & by the end of 30 days I either love it or hate it I also think better of any mfg. who thinks this way. PS. Paslode is not one of the mfg,s as i learned to my regret.
ive used that saw on a few jobs friend of mine has one, was really impressed
portability is great, stand great and the warrenty cant be beat
think i will get one, thanks for the info
ps im in sarnia ont(3 hours west of toronto)
I have the old (8 1/4?) maikita with the rousseau table. Tough saw! Good table.
Has anyone found an good way to replace the *#@* knob with something easier to raise and lower the blade? I've cleaned the screw, but it's still a bear to raise and lower.
Thanks
Slow and Steady :)View ImageGo Jayhawks
Steve
I have the Bosch. No regrets. Tool Crib threw in the stand FREE shipping and no tax. Used the Dewalt and Delta at times and found the Bosch to be a better saw. Nicer bells and whistles. IMHO. A little bit to get used to then let 'er rip. Good power. Hook up a shop vac and 95% of the dust is caught. The Ryobi is a piece of junk.
MORE TOYS NOW...
If you want a portable table saw the Makita saws are probably the best.
John
Steve,
I can't help you, but you might try posting at:
http://www.forums.woodnet.net/ubbthreads/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=UBB2
It's more for woodworking tools, but there's two guys over their that have a formal connection to Delta. (I dunno what, engineers, or product development, something like that.) Anyway, I think their screen names are Delta007 and Rock2Car. If you can get their attention, I think they'd be a big help. Try titling your post there "Delta Sidekick TS - Delta007?"
(I'm not associated with them, I just lurk there. But I've seen them bend over backwards to get help to people on that board.)
If everything seems to be going well, you've obviously overlooked something.
