Considering PVC siding for extreme wind and rain
My Alaska Ocean front house faces southeast. We get lots of wind and rain. I have fiber cement siding that was pre primed and painted. I have painted it every five years for the past 15 years. Now it is such bad condition chunks of the cement are falling off.
Looking to replace this year. My neighbor had a similar problem replaced his cement siding with OBS a few years ago. Any recommendations. A local contractor installs PVC siding but has only been using it for a few year. Anyone have experience with PVC?

I have an ocean front house in Oregon. We get about 85 inches of rain here a year with a lot of wind. I had plywood siding and it had a bunch of rot and paint peeling.
I replace the plywood, then went over it with two layers of 30lb felt, then 10mm mesh to give it an air gap, then cedar shingles with a 5" exposure.
3 years in an it looks new.

It's a lot of detail work, but I think likely one of the best practices for ocean-facing houses. Good luck up there.
Your house looks nice. I am originally from Rhode Island where cedar is standard. I looked into when i built my house but the labor and materials were very high. But I will consider cedar again.
thanks, I keep that in mind.
