Siding w/ Stanley Bostitch Framing Naile
I have Stanley Bostitch stick framing nailer (N80SB). I plan to use it for pre finished Cypress siding in a couple of weeks. I called Bostitch folks and found that to get a no mar tip I need their conversion kit which basically replaces the original metal end (with sharp prongs) with a new one which accepts the soft boot. As I understand it, I do not need to switch back and continue to use the new tip for framing without the soft boot installed. The whole thing is probably going to run me $40 which is not bad but I wanted to check if someone has used it and that it works reliably. Also, is there another option ? other than hammering or buying the siding nailer.
Thanks,
Imran

Can't speak specifically about the Bostitch, but I've had no troubles using my Senco framer with it's flush nailing boot. Works great for fencing, too, BTW. As long as you're using the appropriate nails for the task and adjust it so you don't overdrive the nail, you'll probably be fine. The only drawback is that the coil nailers keep going a lot longer between reloading. If you don't mind that, I say give it a try. On the other hand, if the stick nailer just doesn't work out as well as you'd like and you're trying to avoid the cost of another nailer, you could always rent one for a few days. It'll be more than the flush nailing boot, but I'd bet it's less than buying a good coil nailer.
Good luck!
Thanks fir the reply. Since I do a little work each day or as I find time renting is not a viable option. I will give it a try.
