Hey thanks for digging up these discussions. Great help!
If it's silent, it can't be as good as it sounds ...or can it

I've used the Silent Paint Remover for about a year now and it's more than paid for itself. It's pricey ($450), but does a super job of removing paint. I recall the web site is http://www.silentpaintremover.com

Thanks. I've been to the website, but I like to hear from others who aren't necessarily affiliated with the company.
Have you tried any of the accessories?
I forget how but some here have spoken about naking your own for less than half the price of the one youre speaking about.
You might want to enquire.

I have just finished removing 170 years worth of exterior paint from a massive greek revival house. That included 21 fluted pillars, 120 feet of dental moulding, and enless fancy trim work. The silent paint remover worked well. I would guess about twice as fast as a regular heat gun, for most of the mouldings. However it could not reach everywhere, the heat gun was a neccesary augmentation. Also it is not easy. Even with excellent moulding scrapers, it is tough physical work. For flat trim and clapboards I used , a power scraper. That is very fast, probably twic e the speed of the silent paint remover, at least. But again it is tough physical work.
