That black, deep digging fungus that gets into silicone caulk in showers: Has anyone come up with a long lasting solution?
We have just been ask to try to solve this problem in a shower that used silicone instead of grout (I think this system was used in the ’70s when it was thought silicone was the ultimate answer to everything). The 4×4 tile came in squares of 12 and the remaining joints were then siliconed. It’s a mess.

Fonzie,
Clean it out, clorox it and use some Lexel.

Would you mind expanding on that--I know what lexel is--it doesn't permit the growth of the fungus? By the way, does it come in white? (all I've ever noticed is the clear)
I have been using Lexel instead of silicone for years and have not seen any fungus on it yet. It comes in white.
That is super interesting. Thanks for the tip. I'm going shopping for Lexel.
