Just finished this simple deck with a trillis today, took me 8 working days to knock down the old, build the new and stain it. Also, first time using Trex. Nice stuff.

What changed? Looks like the same deck.

My advice to you is not to inquire why or whither, but just enjoy your ice cream while it's on your plate-- Thornton Wilder
It basically is the same. The were happy with the original design but there was to much rotted wood and not worth it to repair. However, there are some significant differences. Notice the rail posts are on the outside edge of the deck, creating a lot more useable deck space the the old, whith the posts on the inside of the header. Also, the trellis is not sitting on top of a fram of 2x6's. My design is a lot more open and airy, and tall people don't bump their head on it.
Other than that the deck boards are Trex (old ones were wood) and this ones is just plain better, cuz I built it.

I LOVE trex, and on the same hand I HATE refinishing decks(that's a pain in the butt....and back....and knees) Alot of the trex i do i try to talk HO into cable rail for that ultra modern look.
All I ever wanted in life was an unfair advantage...
I don't mind staining a small deck like the one shown. As for the aching joints, there's not much I do that doesn't come with it's share.--------------------------------------------------------
