Gene, one builder that we used to do a lot of homes for used those clips on the ceilings. I never saw them used on the walls but I'm sure they would work fine. I think I would put at least one block at the midspan of the end wall stud though.

No experience, because we don't do that, but I wouldn't. 1/2" rock is floppy stuff, and I'd rather see it nicely screwed in the corners. If something (a rambunctious kid) runs into that corner, it'll blow.
Those clips work okay but I don't see a big savings, moneywise.
Simpson is pushing them as money saver, but I just see more money going in Simpson's pocket
They are useful for ceiling backing when you forgot to put wood before the roof/floor sheathing, but like previous poster, I wouldn't want to use them in a corner that may get leaned into.
