Does anyone make good ones any more? Any brands to look for (that one might find in a local HW store or big box)?

I buy the Hyde brand
blades in boxes of 100, and they are fine for the usual stuff like cleaning paint off of glass. If you want to spend some money you can buy the lab grade version: http://www.2spi.com/catalog/tools/smtol14.shtml
My main use for them is wallpapering. The generic Ace ones from the local HW have too much "drag" on wet wallpaper.
Use Olfa snap knives, they rock. I like the ss version SVR-1, or SVR-2.
Second vote for the heavy duty Olfa knife - I use one every day.

I'll tell my wife (who's the chief wallpaper hanger in the house). She's also a sewer/quilter, so quite familiar with Olfa.
Even more better for scraping, no side notches, and thicker than regular blades.
